My Approach

Any relationship relies on communication. Without communication we fall short of understanding. Without understanding wants, needs, emotional boundaries, likes and dislikes, we are not able to create a trusting bond with someone. That someone is our family, our friends and most importantly our dogs! As humans we have many different forms of communication with one another and how we interact within our world. So do our dogs! Dogs communicate with other dogs, other animals and with humans, we just need to learn their form of communication, and learn to work with how and what they are communicating. This means us learning to speak a new language, learn how they think, what they need (which is not always what we might want) and find a way to live amicably together. Dog training is never a one size fits all, and that means as a trainer there is no one specific way to train all dogs. I strive to find the communication system that works best for you and your dog. I am not just training your dog for you, or just teaching you how to train your dog, I help you understand what your dog is trying to tell you what they need, and give you the knowledge and skills on how to show your dogs how to get what they need and what you want from them.

“In order for a dog to be stubborn, they must first understand completely what is asked of them, and THEN choose to disobey.

There are very few stubborn dogs in the world.

There are, however, many dogs who are untrained.”

Dream it

All dogs care capable of learning new things. Keep in mind our dogs are their own individuals with physical and mental limitations, hard work can still go a long way. Dream big and climb the mountains you never thought possible.

Build it

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your journey is the trusting, loving relationship you will build with your dog! Continue to evolve, learn, imporve and fall more in love with proccess of working with your dog. Your only goal is to do your best for your best friend.

“Jessie is very passionate about dog training! We love taking her agility classes. She provides honest feedbacks about our dogs and we learn so much from her sessions”

- Sonia, Utah & Whistler.

“Jesse has been a great coach and dog training mentor, she’s very knowledgeable and easy to work with. I really enjoy her teaching style for barn hunt, agility and general obedience.”

-  Peter and Aspen.

Jessie has really helped us grow as an agility team. She has taught me valuable skills to help overcome challenges I have as a novice handler and we really enjoy her classes. We love working with Jessie!

-            Dayandra Elrod

Working with Jessie to create a positive working relationship with my border collie puppy has been the highlight of our week for our entire set, and we've signed up for another batch of sessions! Jessie helps us to not only have fun, but also solidify those fundamental aspects of training that will hopefully lead to some agility trials once we are ready. Her classes are well balanced and full of positive energy and reinforcement of learning how to allow your pup to make thoughtful decisions, and what behaviours should be rewarded. Jessie provides guidance on how to deal with tough situations, such as jumping, fear of loud noises and excitability. I feel like she provides a safe learning environment and encourages you to have fun and let loose and most of all enjoy that relationship with your dog. Thanks Jessie! So glad we get to have a blast together!

“My dog Cassie and I attended Jessie’s classes for a few months. I signed up for classes to give Cassie exposure to new things as she is often quite sensitive and fearful. I also wanted to have fun and I wanted Cassie to have fun. Attending classes was very helpful and of course it was so much fun. Cassie ABSOLUTELY ADORED Jessie. She would literally do almost anything when Jessie asked her to do it. I think I needed more training than Cassie and Jessie was very patient with me and would fully explain the how and the why. I would definitely recommend Jessie and Red Jay Dog Training.

Jessie is a fantastic instructor. The classes are always fun and just the right amount of challenge. My dog, Floyd, can't wait to get out of the car to get into class. Floyd and I both highly recommend her classes.
